Know the Signs: How to Recognise Child Neglect
Signs include consistent hunger, poor hygiene, untreated injuries, frequent absences from school, and a child left unsupervised for long periods. If you suspect neglect, report to your nearest area chief or child protection officer immediately.

Our Linda Mtoto SHG (Save the Child group) comprises 20 trained community parents who actively sensitise households on child protection. They are the frontline defence against abuse and neglect in Kanzinwa village.

Our community assessments show that substance abuse — particularly illicit brew — is the primary driver of child neglect in the project area. Our baraza programmes and caregiver training directly target this root cause.

Contact your area chief, sub-chief, or village elder. You can also reach the Sub-County Children's Officer or call the national helpline. All reports are treated with confidentiality. AIC Kanzinwa's Child Protection Officer Joshua Mutisya uses the Resolver system to track and follow up every reported case.

Our caregivers are trained in positive parenting skills — including discipline without violence, creating stimulating home environments, and effective communication with children. A safe home is the first line of child protection.
