WATER UTILIZATION AT OUR CHURCH/FRONTLINE CHURCH PARTNER

Water is the mother of the vine, the nurse and fountain of fecundity, the adorner and refresher of the world. Water is the driving force of all nature. A drop of water, if it could write out its own history, would explain the universe to us. “Water is the most critical resource issue of our lifetime and our children’s lifetime. The health of our waters is the principal measure of how we live on the land.” – Water is life’s matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water. Luna Leopold. Water is the lifeblood of our bodies, our economy, our nation and our well-being. Water is the most extraordinary substance! Practically all its properties are anomalous, which enabled life to use it as building material for its machinery. Life is water dancing to the tune of solids. To understand water is to understand the cosmos, the marvels of nature, and life itself.

When Qavah was introduced to us as a church in March 2014; KE759 team we embraced it to the fullest! We drew both our resource & dream maps respectively. We pinpointed three cardinal drawbacks that we immediately commenced addressing:- Ignorance, hunger and spiritual starvation. We commenced a church-based private primary school in January 2015 to mitigate ignorance; we too started interdenominational trails of trainings to all clergy servants and church elders to curb spiritual starvation. And we ensured water availability is at disposal for irrigation purpose at the church and respectively homesteads where our supported babies, children and youths come from this was to address food security and livelihoods. We bought 1,000 litres water tanks for every homestead!

We have over 200,000 litres stored in our church/FCP premises and we have a capacity to pump over 50,000 litres of water per day from our shallow well which is 600 metres from the church. We are strategizing on how do mega, intensive and technological horticultural farming for both IGA and domestic food production. Our principle is that a ton of water should produce a ton of food! We will be happy to get to a point of letting Compassion International Inc Kenya National office who is our main financier to terminate their support and engage another church in a few years’ time.
