SPIRITUAL EMPOWERMENT & TRANSFORMATION OF YOUTHS

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6 NIV.

“Step out on faith and walk into your purpose.”- Germany Kent. When you find yourself in need of spiritual nourishment, it is in the opportunities to serve others that you will find the abundance you seek. The path of spiritual growth is a path of lifelong learning. Spirituality is keeping the spirit up against all odds and obstacles of life. Life is not worth living unless you live it for the One who gave you life. Spiritual maturity is measured in terms of persevering faith, not perfect behavior. “A state of mind that sees God in everything is evidence of growth in grace and a thankful heart.”- Charles Finney. Spiritual maturity is neither instant nor automatic; it is gradual, progressive development that will take the rest of your life.

iServe Africa began in 2007 after Harrison spent two years in the UK as a ministry apprentice in Reading and Sussex. Through observation of the UK church landscape, training and the personal mentoring he received, he became strongly convinced that the African church is in great need of gospel workers. After prayer and wide consultations with leaders both in Kenya and in the UK, the idea solidified and he felt strongly that an apprenticeship programme would be one answer to raising a generation of gospel workers who will faithfully teach the scriptures and encourage Christians to live out their faith in the African context.

Inspired by the apprenticeship models in the UK, Harrison envisaged a programme that would give young graduates opportunities of involvement in Christian ministry, helping them to explore the needs and opportunities available in gospel ministry, whether gospel ministry is for them and also a programme that would support the ministry of a local church. The idea of iServe Africa was born.Years down the line there was the realization that vibrancy and warmth towards the Gospel has been found in many cases to lack solid Christian discipleship foundations. As a result  sporadic growth of prosperity Gospel was witnessed that puts a lot of emphasis on the message of health and wealth. This is where iServe Africa TransformD discipleship program comes in.

This programme is interested in transforming the lives of high school leavers between the age of 18-21yrs of age into Christ-centered individuals. It is our hope that after they have stayed at iserveAfrica for a period of 3 months they will move into the next stage as well trained, equipped and mentored to face life.

We have managed to take 4 registered youths from our Church/FCP for the above ideal and intensive training offered by iServe Africa team in Kikuyu. They will remain in iServe Africa premises in Kikuyu for the next 3 months. We highly recommend and advocate peer teaching and preaching of the Gospel to fill in the generational gaps that hinders most youths into accepting Christ and salvation when ministered by aged people. This team of able and enthusiastic youths will come and practically teach, preach and evangelize Gospel to the others youths here. The four sat for KCSE in 2020 and made it to campus; they all scored B-(Minus) and above. They will be well prepared and groomed by the time they commence university life. This is in alignment with the spiritual outcomes as per the initial framework.
