Most things are good, and they are the strongest things; but there are evil things too, and you are not doing a child a favor by trying to shield him from reality. The important thing is to teach a child that good can always triumph over evil. “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” –Frederick Douglass. I don’t think it matters how many parents you’ve got, as long as those who are around make their presence a good one. The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice. We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future. Parenthood…it’s about guiding the next generation and forgiving the last.
A recent report by the African Population and Health Research Center showed that about 13,000 girls drop out of school annually due to early and unintended pregnancies which also increases the risk of maternal and newborn deaths and disabilities, including from complications of unsafe abortion, prolonged labor and childbirth. The reports from the FY20 annual screening showed that 78 girls were pregnant as at the time of screening, in addition to other reported cases of sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS. The situation got worse during the COVID-19 related school closures.

At KE759 we took advantage of the short holidays when our beneficiaries were at home for holiday break to intensively create awareness and educate them about Sexual Purity Awareness and Coaching Of Peer Educators intervention supported by Compassion International Inc. Kenya Field office! This is impeccable of you Compassion Kenya! You swiftly intervene to mitigate beneficiaries’ needs in time and using the best approach! This intervention was well embraced by tens of registered youths that attended and the selected peer educators immediately began evangelising the same ‘gospel’ to other beneficiaries, peers and siblings! We are optimistic that this will reduce the above perturbing rates at a large percentage!
