AVAILABILITY OF SAFE AND CLEAN WATER FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION AT KE759
Clean water, the essence of life and a birthright for everyone, must become available to all people now. Water is one of the most basic of all needs – we cannot live for more than a few days without it. And yet, most people take water for granted. We waste water needlessly and don’t realize that clean water is a very limited resource. More than 1 billion people around the world have no access to safe, clean drinking water, and over 2.5 billion do not have adequate sanitation service. Over 2 million people die each year because of unsafe water – and most of them are children!
Our Church/FCP is located in arid area of Eastern region of Kenya, this qualifies it to be water scarcity region. We had to scratch our heads further to get a permanent and lasting water solution at the church premises and every homestead from which our supported beneficiaries comes from. We have over 200,000 litres of stored water at the church/FCP and we have capability of pumping 50, 00litres per for both church and FCP. We have ensured that there is safe and clean water for every homestead from which our supported beneficiaries come by purchasing a 1,000 litres water tank for harvesting water for drinking purposes. We further purchased water purifiers for the centre based supported beneficiaries and in June 2021, we purchased purifiers for survival mothers so that they can too have safe and clean drinking water at their homesteads. Survival intervention has really brought an impeccable impact in the sense that there is now low mortality rate, survival supported families have viable and dependable life skills thus minimizing family break ups, either separation or divorce hence making children to cheerfully grow experiencing both maternal and paternal love, care and comfort.
