In March 2024, we embarked on a recruitment drive for AIC Maeni, using Compassion International’s criteria to identify the poorest of the poor. From this initiative, we selected 30 program participants. As stated in James 1:27, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” This scripture underscores our commitment to serving the most vulnerable in our community. The community has been living under extreme poverty with very few resources, which has hindered many from attaining their economic and spiritual goals. Because of this, they are very delighted by the new extension (satellite) and are deeply appreciative of being considered for this opportunity.
Our team, including ASM members, parents, and part-time teachers, regularly visits the new satellite to offer guidance and training on conducting programmes. During these visits, we train the local committee, which has been established to ensure the smooth running of our activities. Proverbs 27:17 reminds us, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another,” highlighting the importance of these visits in strengthening and equipping the committee members.
On the 6th of July 2024, we launched the Saturday programme for the new satellite. All the programme participants attended, and their enthusiasm was palpable. Seeing their joy and eagerness to learn was truly heartwarming. As Psalm 133:1 states, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” This verse beautifully captures the spirit of togetherness and community that marked the beginning of this new chapter for AIC Maeni.
By God’s grace, AIC Maeni is off to a strong start, and we look forward to witnessing the growth and positive impact of this new satellite in the lives of the children and their families.
