FINANCIAL LITERACY, MANAGEMENT AND FOOD SECURITY MEASURES AT KE0759

If we command our wealth, we shall be rich and free. If our wealth commands us, we are poor indeed. Never spend your money before you have earned it. A wise person should have money in their head, but not in their heart. Financial peace isn’t the acquisition of stuff. It’s learning to live on less than you make, so you can give money back and have money to invest. ”Money grows on the tree of persistence.” Japanese Proverb. Though we need nothing at the moment it insures the possibility of satisfying a new desire when it arises. It’s not how much money you make, but how much money you keep, how hard it works for you and how many generations you keep it for. Many people are afraid to fail, so they don’t try. They may dream, talk, and even plan, but they don’t take that critical step of putting their money and their effort on the line. What’s keeping you from being rich? In most cases, it’s simply a lack of belief. In order to become rich, you must believe you can do it and you must take the actions necessary to achieve your goal. Wealth is largely the result of habit. Lack of money is no obstacle. Lack of an idea is an obstacle. ”Today the greatest single source of wealth is between your ears.”- Brian Tracy. Never stand begging for that which you have the power to earn. Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort, know what you own, and know why you own it. Money has only a different value in the eyes of each.
Agriculture contributes approximately 33% of our national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and that is the highest form of income in Kenya, it offers 40% and 70% of employment in urban centres and upcountry respectively and 99% of the World population of over 7.4 billion people depends on agriculture. Those who can read between the lines from these statistical data realize that agriculture is a global pillar for livelihood.

We have been actively and intensively engaging our Frontline Church Partner; KE0759 caregivers in agribusiness not even agriculture, via Compassion International Inc. Kenya office we fortunately got funded with 4.5 Million Kenya shillings to mitigate food crisis and promote food security and livelihoods among the 370 families from which our 372 supported beneficiaries come from and in 5 kilometres radius from the church. We have all reasons to smile and thank God since these caregivers are gradually buying the idea and owning respective farm lands that are drip irrigated and solar powered since currently they have commenced both consuming and selling their sweat earned vegetables such as kales, Dania and tomatoes. Kudos to Equity bank Mwingi branch which has freely facilitated two financial literacy and management training to caregivers’ group leaders and they are more than ready to do such till all caregivers understands and practically embraces this concept. Simlaw Seeds Company has been our esteemed core seeds and farm inputs’ supplier as we venture in agribusiness and as a result we have engaged them via networking to giving an helping hand to the FCP caregivers to transform this community whose peoples’ minds had been engulfed by dependency syndrome of relief food which is locally known as Mwolyo and intertwined by an evil spirit of self-disbelief! Surely an hungry man is an angry and ugly man.
