CARE GIVERS HORTICULTURAL FARMING FOR FOOD SECURITY.

Be a global citizen. Act with passion and compassion. Help us make this world safer and more sustainable today and for the generations that will follow us. That is our moral responsibility. We must work closely together to make this year a year of global action, one that will be remembered as the dawn of a new era of sustainable development. There is no ‘Plan B’ because we do not have a ‘Planet B.’ We have to work and galvanize our action. At its essence, sustainability means ensuring prosperity and environmental protection without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. A sustainable world is one where people can escape poverty and enjoy decent work without harming the earth’s essential ecosystems and resources; where people can stay healthy and get the food and water they need; where everyone can access clean energy that doesn’t contribute to climate change; where women and girls are afforded equal rights and equal opportunities. The principle of common but differentiated responsibilities is the bedrock of our enterprise for a sustainable world.
Qavah methodology is an ideal tool for making any given community sustainable and self-reliant. KE0759 is a living testimony, we commenced applying Qavah concept in mid-2014 a thing that has enabled us as a church greatly empower our caregivers and their respective families at a great deal via capacity building through trails of respective trainings. To date we can proudly say that 372 families whose children and youths are supported at A.I.C Kanzinwa Child and Youth Development Centre are past relying on relief food commonly known as Mwolyo here! Even non-supported families have indirectly learnt from their allies and replicated the same in their home gardens and they are doing great too. We have organized trails of viable trainings such as horticultural farming for food security purpose, nutrition, tree planting, goat rearing, bee keeping, basketry, chicken rearing just to mention a few. The aftermath of all these trainings is vivid now since over 75% of caregiver are doing a remarkable farming on their own, they can comfortably feed their families, sell and save the surplus for future use. The photos herein below shows horticultural farm for caregiver whose identification number is KE075900085 and KE075900341 who has specialized in tree planting .

A community best serves itself when it truly serves the awakening of the unique story trying to come to life through each person born. “In our community, we have a duty to strengthen the weakest among us to build a better society.” – Bill Courtney. Every community is called to be an instrument for the liberation and promotion of the poor. The purpose of life is not to be happy, but to matter – to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all. “Leaders instill in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals.” – Brian Tracy. A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus.
