TELL ME AND I FORGET. TEACH ME AND I REMEMBER. INVOLVE ME AND I LEARN

‘‘Knowing is not enough; We must apply. Willing is not enough; We must do.’’ Bruce Lee. We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools. ‘’What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.” Buddha. The illiterate of the 21st century is not those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. All the world is a laboratory to the inquiring mind. It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts. ‘‘You don’t learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing, and by falling over.’’ Richard Branson. All our knowledge begins with the senses, proceeds then to the understanding, and ends with reason. There is nothing higher than reason. Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel. By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest. That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do; not that the nature of the thing itself is changed, but that our power to do is increased. A man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking. Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or the same way.

Transfer is important, but think first about the learner, then about their native environments. Then, further, let’s hope for the self-initiated application of knowledge. Unprompted. Unformatted. The spontaneous, personal, and creative application of understanding in dynamic physical and digital environments. AIC Kanzinwa Academy with the help of KE759 AIC Kanzinwa CDC strongly believes in practical teaching and guided pupils/peer learning. Our pupils are being prepared for practical lifetime experience and not assumed life experience. We have interwinned school Motto, Vision and Mission with that of Child and Youth Development Centre to holistically nurture every learner. We normally involve them in various real experiences such as tree planting, in direct cleaning of the surrounding vicinity by collecting empty milk packets and tins for tree seedlings transplanting for selling to generate cash that is used to enrich parents’ contribution and motivate best pupils and most improved learners by buying them prizes.
